Some Extra Cash

So I have some extra cash lying around atm that I don't intend to spend on the festive season. Which is the better option: (1) Leave the money in the bank and invest in the new year or (2) Invest now!? Basically, I am asking, is December time a good time to invest?

No possible reliable answer, otherwise it would have been gamed long ago. Suggest some now, some in the new year. Google 'value averaging' for one technique.
