Angloplat investigating reports of fire at smelter November 5, 2008 12:29:47 JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's Anglo Platinum (Angloplat), the world's biggest producer of the metal, said on Wednesday it was investigating reports of a fire or explosion at its Polokwane smelter. Simon Tebele, a spokesman at Angloplat, which is majority-owned by Anglo American Plc, said he could not yet confirm the report. "We are investigating the reports on the fire at the Polokwane smelter," Tebele told Reuters.
