Sorry, but sometimes the truth hurts. However, I am convinced of the fact that southern africa (not only RSA) should focus on food production.

Hy is o.a. gemoeid met grondhervorming.

Striker is spot on. A lower R/$ will benefit the mining and manufacturing sector, and this will outstrip any benefit a strong Rand is bringing. One of the reason why our GDP is lagging the world recovery is because of a strong R/$.

SA is egter 'n ander saak.

Simon. Surely racist comments should invoke net nanny? Chartists gets banned and people who make racist comments are tolerated?

Er, the phenomenal turnaround in Zambian agriculture brought about by the white ex-Zim farmers over the past 5 years actually underscores his point?

It puzzles why inflation in SA is so resistant - why only in SA?

so the rand goes to 10 .. we get inflation .. we get interest rate increases .. the poor continue to suffer, mines are still crippled by inflation, wage demands, eskom etc .. and we trap the poor in a life of being poor with no hope for ht efuture .. very juicy prospects ?? what surprises me is that nobody mentions manufactoring ?? this is what I mean by bias and not really thinking .. an a last Q, how do we weaken/peg the rand ??

Manufacturing surely will benefit the most (exporters). Well, pegging the Rand is not a good idea... Hmmm, we have to think of another way to do it. Malema and Vavi should be able to drive the Rand to R10/$ if they work together!
