New Developments. Yes. They have proposed a new Shoprite Centre down the road from us. :P Last I heard they were up to some deal? Wiese has a lot to day what goes on with Checkers. I heard or read he even wanted to de-list Shoprite. From a growth point of view I would day Checkers is better positioned than Pick n Pay with their stores spread out all over Africa. While Checkers was investing in Africa, Pick n Pay was dumping a lot of it's profits from it's South African business into Australia. The last time I asked some of my African Staff which store they preferred between Checkers and Pick n Pay the unanimous vote was Checkers. Dit is baie goedkoper se hulle. Regards, BTTB

Thanks BTTB - as you say shoprite is well positioned. I was also wondering what the thinking is on this private equity deal Allan Gray, asset managers , would like to see the proposed R13,1bn buy-out and delisting of Shoprite come to nought - and is lobbying for others to see things its way. any more opinions ..
