What are the views of the forumites as to the direction of the markets? Up,Down or Sideways? I'm going with Down as it looks like the Fed induced rally is running out of legs... You can't bulls#@t the market with rate cuts when many companies are in the dwang.

I think down. And bullish on gold, god help me, even bullish on GFI. Almost entirely in cash apart from trading GFI up and down with SSFs and some JDG instalments which I'm stuck with due to stupidity.

I see the chinese steel makers are looking to buy RIO Tinto... this is somthing I have been saying is coming for some time. I think that any weakness should be seen as an opp to buy anglo and Bil you have seen that with Standard Bank we dont put up a fight so I recon Anglo's makes for a very very real take over target by the chinese...If I was sitting in 1.3 trillion dollars that is what I would be buying.. banks are small fry..
