Hi is there anyway to work out what the cost would be with buying more shares. Lets say I have 29000 shares bought at 111 incl costs the share is now valued at 175. Say I want to buy R30000 more of these shares at 175 what would my stand in cost be after the transaction? Thanks in advance

Hi prancing horse. I want to know if I have 29000 at 111 and I buy another 17143 (30000 divide by 1.75) what will the new cost be? Where on the site does it show you that?

Just go to the trade function and then PRETEND that you are going to buy a certain number at a certain price and it will calculate it for you. DO NOT PRESS TRADE!!!!!!

Enter the share in question, press the trade box, put the approx number of shares you expect to buy at your price, it will give you an approx cost of transaction.Adjust quantity till you get to the amount you want to spend.Magic

Hi Guys I get what you saying with the costs on the trade page but thats not exactly what Im asking. Im asking if I already have 26000 shares at a cost of 1.11 and I buy another 18000 shares at 1.75 what will the cost of the shares be in my portfolio. So I know the cost would increase due to weighted average but how exactly would I know that the combined shares would now have a cost in my portfolio of 1.20 or 1.35 etc. Im not lookig for the cost in Rand terms say total cost on the trade page Im looking finout how would I work out what my new cost would be in my portfolio. So if I have 26000 shares at 111 and I buy 18000 more at 1.75 after the transaction what would be the cost of the total shares in my portfolio?

26000 x R1.11 = R28860 18000 x R1.75(assuming this is total cost) = R31500 R28860 + R31500 = R60360 R60360/ 44000 shares = R 1.372 average cost per share
