buying in opening auction

Simon, I understand the idea and function behind the closing auction of the JSE (bigest volume at a specific price determines closing price), however what happens in an opening auction? Can I put a bid to buy shares at a specified price or is it similar to closing auction? From what I can see though, you can only buy @market in this time? Am I corect in this observation?

opening auction same as closing auction .. exce3pt limit prices only .. starts 8.35am ..
