Hi Simon, does this have any material impact on index tracking funds like Satrix or the price of the index itself?

Bigger question is what effect will this have on AEG and MUR. Will the fund managers that is only allowed to trade in TOP 40 stocks have to sell their holdings if they are indeed holding these two?

MUR out of top40 and shedding 1400 jobs but share up 7% today? thought that was bad news or is that good bad news/

1400 job shed = 1400 less people to pay = lower expenses. Market has already priced in a slump in profits.

Very often restructuring is good news - it makes the company more likely to survive and shows that management is awake. Rio Tinto climbed about 15% in London yesterday for the same reason.

my question is, the fund managers must have known in advance, because for the past six months there has been a serious sell off of MUR shares and it is very indicative of its current low share price

adding to this P&P and growthpoint increased in value over the past six months upon high volume and even directors buying into the stock
