how to work out newgold price?

Can anyone perhaps explain why newgold is trading @ R80.00 when the Rand/dollar x gold price @ current = 7.30 x 1122 = 8190.. Why is there about a R2 different @ most times between the two..

Hi Marco. It is the market price. When you buy/sell on the market it is affected by supply & demand. When ABSA issue the shares them selves, your working out of the price is roughly right, but on the open market, the price is determined by the market

The exact price is also dependant on your source of spot prices, and also remember the spread.
