10 minutes after I bought 10000 ESR yesturday someone bought 2000000 shares. judging by their interims Im thinking this one could have a nice run up to results time...

Ja, it looks very cheap - I have enough cash left to make a construction share move - and currently trying to decide between ESR or BSR, tough choice!

Looking at ESRs interims and taking into account they have very little competition compared with the general construction stocks ESR looks like a very safe bet. Results should be out in about a month. and if their interims were up something like 70% we could expect a trading update towards the end of this month. OMO

Can you explain what you mean by limited competition? I am not technically clued up enough to understand their competitive edge?

Off the top of my head, they do all the piling and preparing of construction sites. ESR is the largest specialist contractor in the country for sub-surface foundation work.

Also don't forget, BSR are paying a meaty dividend next month. I am also trying to decide between the two.

For what its worth, I went for BSR a while back already. Reading all about them on this site and their own statements makes me comfortable to hold for a while.

ESR specialises in geotechnical engineering - engineering behaviour of earth materials. I'ts part of my porfolio.

Im also holding a bit of BSR, (and MUR but sold most of them this week after the 15% climb.) But I reckon ESR bar any gremlins in the final results is going to pay a meatier Divi than BSR. I've got my eye on some more RBX which hasnt moved all that much but still a good company.

Bear in mind also ESR operates with margins of around 20% due to their speciality nature - much room for error. Other general construction stocks have much lower margins of around 8% with compression coming. Seems ESR the safer construction play. And at these PE's a no-brainer.
