around 50 million rand went into mtn one shot...where will we see them next? they hit the low 160s bfore some profit takin occurred.. are they going to touch those levels again???

Merger is not as good a deal as purchase. Looks to me that this deal will become sour in the long run.

i don't think selling up completely was on the table. and its not like bharti is investing 10 or 20%...they want controlling interest. that should count for alot

Controlling interest in not a merger , it is a acquistion (51%)

Merger can be good, depends what value Bharti places on MTN. The new company could be call Bharti MTN with a dual listing in Mombai SE and JSE. Like when BHP (OZ) and Billiton (SA) merger to form BHP Billiton a few years ago.
