Am i the only one thats see'ing this but for the last three weeks someone or something is buying massive amounts of this share at 460. However on the trading platform there is no selling or buying amounts reflecting this. The platform shows bid at 458 and selling at 467 yet large amounts of stock is being sold one after the other at 460. i dont understand this ? Even if someone buys at 467 it is almost immediately sold down again at 460.....wtf ??

it not manipulation, just two traders agreeing off market on a price to trade at .. perfectly legit .. as long as the trade goes via the JSE and is within the current spread

cool banana's....thanx for the info....i can only guess then that their is a trader out there that has a positive outlook for this company judging by the volume that has been changing hands over the last few weeks on this stock at this price

I also noticed that. But late yesterday i noticed a buyer at 500 000 od shares that could not fill any at 4.60.So could we presume that large seller at 4.60 is out.

They're in a consortium bidding for 3rd National Lottery licence. 7 year licence term. R40-70 billion est turnover. Go figure

i think recently the share incentive offered for black woman in south africa had a lot to do with this "tender" for the lottery licence. Kind of a indirect shot in the arm for this company.

GPL have shown some nice growth over the past 2 years. Coupled with good divs, as well as special divs, they are proving a nice little share to hold for me for the medium term.

just a point on gaming stocks .. new smoking laws will mean NO inside smoking areas at all .. zip.nada .. when this passed in OZ and NZ gaming revenue fell about a third and took 3-4 years to recover ..

my take on gaming stocks is where is the growth going to come from - i.e. what will create that exponential leap in earnings. Sure, they generate a lot of cash and pay good dividends, but when I invest, I look for stocks that have the potential to really grow and double, triple or more my investment. Gaming stocks need to build more casinos to provide that big leaps in earnings - and I think their ability to do this is really curbed. Just my 2c worth.

True skaaptjop, but gpl is more than just casinos, there are the limited payout machines which still have growth, and burger king could be an exponential type growth element. They will also not likely stop with burger king.

that's good to know - i.e. that a strategy is in place. I don't follow this stock, but I think I will have a closer look

better bet for the LPM is NIV

Why do you say that Simon? Not saying you wrong, but GPL growing quickly in the lpm space and also seem to be on a much better PE compared to Niveus.

because NIV more pure LPM, the others have LPM as a small(ish) part of a bigger group

True, they are less concentrated on LPMs than Niv if this is what you are after. I just cant help really liking the other parts of GPL as well, and think it on a more reasonable valuation.

I agree with you....i like where this company is going. Im holding this one for the long term. Really hoping they are awarded the national lottery licence

I agree with what u saying....however this company's primary focus seems to be shifting...look at what they have achieved recently with the licence for burger king - this alone is massive - They have started manufacturing slot machines for local market and export. They have tendred for the national lottery licence - huge if they get it. This is what i enjoy about this board and management team. These guys are diversifying and grabbing opportunities as they come around.
