is interesting that on Dec 14th when the original SENS came out, price jumped 8.7%. today we are around 20% off the pre-announcement price. it is true that today's SENS isnt news but a reminder; which probably explains why isnt having any impact on share price.

i wasnt around during the original rumours and SENS...was there any further news to caused the retracement in the days that followed?

was there anything that could have pointed to whether it will be positive or negative bias?

should be positive as it seems to rumours doing the rounds are that they are selling their finance book/debtors to some bank? Alec tried a quick one when they interviewed dr. steve of absa the other day when he tried to suggest absa is buying their loan book...... with the worries around indebtedness this should be positive if it is indeed what its about

Your initial remark reflects on the volatility in the market, and maybe of this share. The lack of enthusiasm is because maybe ABSA will only buy at a price which does not include Woollies' bad component, therefore the latter will still be reflected in the current results. At least the possibility of this transaction should bring Woollies' downward trend to a halt. To turn to ABSA: this transaction should then reflect negatively on ASA? What with all the bad debts bringing banks into the spotlight, what good will it do to buy in old c r a p?
