You'll have to come to me for the first 3% - thinking of upping it to just under 5%

Negative. Very small and a share that is seldom traded with any decent volume so once in it maybe "till death do us part". Only positive I can find is that when profitable, always paid a fair dividend, but besides that very little else...my view. Well as they "the bigger the risk, the bigger the gain"

All of the points re illiquidity etc. - are well taken - but it is they that have drawn me to the beast. Small, growing, specialised insurance company with over 500 million of assets held captive. R300M semi-discretionary at say 7% = R30m per year less tax is 23c per share - before capital gains, furniture business profits, insurance business profits etc...

Trade volume wise - it makes our friend WNH look like a raging torrent.

Talking about WNH, I must say I'm surprised it's holding out that well, didn't think it would after peeling that div, anyway I've held that animal for more years than I care to remember and only hope that the dividend stream returns to an annual one.

There's supposed to be an offer pending. It's filthy cheap anyway. If there is a rekindling of interest in emerging markets (seem to be starting as we type,) a deal may well be consummated.
