Werner I know my post does not answer your question which shares I personally own, but for me it is futile to talk about one or two individual overseas shares on this forum as Google Finance etc.. is just flooded by guys ?professionals uplifting or shooting down my favorite ones ha,ha I have had an overseas platform to buy individual shares for many years. Buy and sell costs = flat rate and very low as some of us know. My experience however is that as a foreigner one should tread carefully out there as the noise around shares are sooo big everyday and can sometimes be very confusing. (As example: Maybe today your hero? Jamie Dimon did something good and everybody likes him. Last year he screwed up big time in his shareholders view and nearly lost his job.) Yes, is Microsoft a share to own??? Yesterday I think it went up to same price as 10 years ago! and media very excited. In South Africa not that "many shares," fairly easy to study them (except PNC?), play Golf with some CEO's, ha,ha and kids to same schools etc.. know their products and historic excellent performance by the good ones. Nice rand hedges available too. Yes, one can (and I have) and probably must have some individual shares or exposure overseas but be careful. (Oh, and most people involved in shares in RSA should know it is easy to set up an overseas trading platform for trading individual shares = also available in RSA but fees are high here.)
