About pricing, keep in mind that the EU's new pricing for sugar kicks in in 2009 (I think). As far as I have it they have put a floor in place and will buy at this price from emerging markets, regardless. To top it all I think the price is well above current prices and definately above costs. As you said Simon, price fixing not the greatest but I think for the next 5 years or so this should actually count in their favor as they were never allowed to sell into Europe before. This seems to be their main reason for expansion in Zambia etc. With the focus on EU, not so sure if they would be able to keep up with local demand. It would therefore seem unlikely that they would sell property..... UNless they think they can capitalise on SA property and buy double the land for half the price somewhere in Africa????
