Hi PaulH, Thanks for your comment, I am flattered that you find my writing entertaining at best. I read in your comment that you are 22 years old, that is very young to be in the stock market so I presume you inherited some money. My advice to you is be very careful, there is a sure way to make a small fortune and that is to start with a big one if you don't know about investing. I have been in the market since the early 80's and have ridden the up's and down's of the market and survived, this down turn is no different. You mention that you are down 120,000 on monday alone, does that mean you are down much more? I on the other hand was not fully exposed to the market when it was at its high and only started buying when it started coming down. I have traded a lot on the way up and on the way down and have managed to bring my average down to current respectable levels. Over all I am still up and my total portfolio is only about 10% off from its high when the same shares are 60% off from their highs. The good thing is that my average is almost at current levels and any major upswing will increase my portfolio substantially and when the highs are again reached I will have more than doubled my capital. I do not think there are many portfolio managers that can say they have achieved such a performance when markets are coming down unless they get out completely at the top and get back in at the bottom--it is too risky to do that for no one knows when the market will turn again. The only solution is to trade as the market is coming down and bring your average down, remember that doing that is tax free and that is where the real money is made compared to the rest of the market. When the markets are going up no one is making money as all things are equal but when your portfolio is increasing or staying the same whilst everybody else is going down that is when you are making real money relative to everybody else. Inflated money is not real money, real wealth is made when your assets are increasing at a higher rate to everybody else. There are many factors that determines a market and nobody can get it right all the time. It is very difficult to be above the rest and only a few make it there. There is only one stone at the top of a pyramid.
