The past several weeks have been truly heart-warming for the Standard Bank, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Talk Radio 702 ‘Truck of Love’ elves who travelled around to homes for children and seniors across all corners of Gauteng.
Based on nominations received from listeners of the radio stations and followers on both Facebook and Twitter, the ‘Truck of Love’ team went on a shopping spree to remember; purchasing goodies needed by each home and care centre. Being the festive season, the team couldn’t help but surprise all with wrapped gifts too! After all, ‘tis the season to share a little love!
From towels to mattresses and bed linen, to grocery supplies, nappies, baby food, seeds for existing vegetable gardens and so much more, the ‘Truck of Love’ team did their homework in finding out just what things were essential to the comfortable running of each care centre or home. Joining the team were selected radio personalities from 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Talk Radio 702. The likes of Mark Pilgrim, Udo Carelse, Alex Caige, John Robbie, Bruce Whitfield, Jenny Crwys Williams, Rofhiwa T Bologo and Xolani Gwala joined the team on the road to lend a helping hand.

The smiles on the faces of all the children, babies and seniors that the team visited are now priceless memories. A little festive cheer and the delivery of useful things, which make living conditions that much more comfortable and sustainable, provided hope to both the caretakers and those whom they care for so tirelessly. A tremendous THANK YOU must be said to all involved in the ‘Truck of Love’, as well as those who give their lives so graciously to care for those in need. What a special few weeks it has been? May the festive spirit in us all live a little longer as we head into 2014!
