Ivory Coast took the title of AFCON 2015 champions in a battle against Ghana this past weekend.

Ghana played Ivory Coast in the 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations final where Ivory Coast emerged as the winner. Football teams and their fans from various African countries gathered in the city of Bata, Equatorial Guniea to watch the exciting match. Goalkeeper, Boubacar Barry, scored the winning goal for his team with a score line that saw Ivory Coast win 9-8 on penalties after the final ended in 0-0 following extra time.

In 1992, Ivory Coast also met Ghana in the final and went on to clinch the title after winning on penalties once again after a goalless draw. This is Ivory Coast’s first Africa Cup of Nations win in 23 years. Many people regarded the game as a dream final between the West African neighbours which left fans sitting on the edge of their seats.

Although Ivory Coast took the trophy at the final, It’s the millions of fans across Africa who are the winners, as they supported the teams throughout the competition.
