Hi All, Ive been trading using SB for a while now and recently I have met a large number of people who are trading CFD's. THey aim for a 3% move up or down to make their cash. None of these people are doing technical or fundamental analysis but must be doing something right as they are all smiling. I know very little about CFD trading. What thoughts from the warrants and futures crowds. Would you trade CFD's if so why, if not why. I cant see how all these folks are coming right on blind luck. THere isnt that much of it to go around is there? :) - Paul C

hi Paul, good luck on finding opinions on this site about CFDs! I posed a similar question a few months ago and received little feedback. some sites offer introductory info and a demo account - try http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/techforum/2003/0305200717.asp?A=ONT&S=Online%20Trading&T=Section&O=S..., http://www.nedbank.co.za/website/content/cfd/faqs.asp, http://www.sharenet.co.za/spread/, http://www.hugocapital.com/cfd/#

Hi there, I too have been looking at CFD's. Try going to Global Trader - www.gt247.com.There is a pretty comprehensive Trading Platform Users Guide. It give info plus compares CFD's vs Spread trading. U can also do simulated trading with GT.

Hi Guys, Im aware of where and how to trade them. I was just wondering what the folks who trade futures and warrants have to say. They must have a reason why they trade a specific instrument. That was all really. - Paul C

the instrument you trade isn't really that important, rather it's how you trade it. I tarde warrants because it's what I know and understand, so I stick with them. All different products have pros and cons wih none being a clear winner.

That's true Simon - 80% of my portfolio here is in SSF's - the rest about all AltX shares. All depends on knowledge, risk and investment / trading objectives. IMO it's about developing a dynamic trading system over time in the instruments you feel comfortable with. In need of change I change within my frame of share / company interest and reference (but I stay with futures and AltX).
