I'm more than a little worried by the advent of so many of these massive BEE deals with 7 to 10 years lock-ins (particularly ABIL's recent deal). However, I've been crunching some numbers and throwing in a couple of estimates the Vodacom deal appears to be a peach... Vodacom generates a lot of cash and net profits, most of which are distributed to shreholders excl. the Vodacom group. Now with the Yebo Yethu facility (3.44% holding of Vodacom) & taking into account initial operating and transaction costs of Yebo Yethu... Shareholders in this scheme can expect a 6.52 to 8.71 dividend return on 50% of their initial investment. Does anyone have any comments regarding this deal?
