Warrants and Options

Hi all, What is the difference between warrants and options (if any?). I would like to get some good books and read up on options but it seems as though (at least on this ost platform), you can only trade warrants, not options. Or are they essentially the same thing? Also, what books would you recommend reading on the topic to learn? Will an American book on options be relevant to SA? Thanks.

You should try and search the internet,for eg the JSE website has a boatload of info regarding different investment products, how they work ect..

they the same thing, warrants are just the retail exchange traded version ..

Ok, thanks Simon, that clears it up. I was worried that if I purchase books on options (that are generally American) to learn more about them, they might not be relevant to our market in SA. thanks.
