shares as a dividend how does it work

In your detais you have the option Shares - Reinvest in shares on my behalf. How does this work I am a very small trader to begin Bay for exsample 100 shares at a time but not the big one some small cap and have some of ,MTN-10, PIK-10 , Sanlam-10 ,DRD-212 UUU-10 MPC-10 and so on My trading vale + - R10 000 I Chose the option for reinvest on my behalf but receve the money insted and not as a share. Is it that I dont have a lot of shares that cant pay the cost to reinvest when I receive a dividend

I would guess the dividend payout is maybe not equal to the price of 1 share? then they pay the cash out?

nope, some stocks will offer the option of cash or shares.

OH, so its not a feature of OST, but rather what the dividend paying company has for arrangements? i never knew that. i guess one learns the whole time. lol
