Also invested in gold shares and eying the gold price, Somehow they don't seem to move as much on an increase in gold price.

the relationship between gold and gold shares is at best weak. At worst it does not exist. Overlay the rand gold price over any gold stock, and be afraid.

If you trade GLD then it becomes quite scary, watching the gold price move in or out of sync with the ZAR/USD. It becomes even worse if you then hold warrants in GLD.. a real roller coaster. The potential gains however are huge...as are the potential losses.

This makes no sense. For our gold shares, a change in the gold price is a direct impact to the bottom line. Unless these companies have fixed price sales contracts and these are being discounted into the price.

well roman, no sense maybe - but it is reality (checkt he share prices and the results). And sure increased price = extra income, but the output of these mines is shrinking (back at 1922 levels), and costs are rising, and maybe the costs up faster then income ?
