I have recently read a Moneyweb transcript (http://www.moneyweb.co.za/mw/view/mw/en/page295799?oid=560187&sn=2009+Detail&pid=66578) about Carry trades and would like to know if anybody knows how one can go about doing it from South Africa?

short answer is that as retail client you can't .. you need serious scale to make it work
