this is pure ball gazing ....I get the feeling the US is going to recover sooner than ppl think...the Us market economy is incredibly resilient...ours is like crystal compared to is.....money will move back into safe (low risk entry) developed markets and out of emerging economies like ours...we are where the states was two years ago in terms of economic cycle.....for too long we have relied on resources....

Chartist - is the world heading for a major recession,or are there other forces at play here ? The rocketing Oil price when everything else is factored, does'nt make sense. Is there some Geo Political, sinister force at work here ? The word ARMAGHEDON could almost desribe the turmoil in World markets right now. Will normality ever return ,and when ??

I'm with striker on this one. We don't realize how big this energy crisis is. US growth means more demand on depleted energy commodities. This is the first election year things might change...

yes but the US also has energy reserves that are under 'protected ares' should the crisis worsen for their economy we might see these being opened up for exploration. Also they are currently working on a huge exploration programme off their own shores. Look up TRANSOCEAN Drilling.

With Chinese and Indian car numbers on the road growing exponentially - it might be a case of "te min te laat".
