What's up with our local gold stocks, they have hardly moved an inch and the gold has sky rocketed. I if they can not perform when the enviroment is so condusive i can just imagine how they will perform when gold starts retreating, or are they generally lagging the market. ANY COMMENTS

I think the strong Rand is capping their movement

The fact that the Dollar is so weak is negating the effect of the high gold price. Which goes for oil as well. We would be in the ***** with this oil price if the Dollar wasnt looking so sad.

Even if you factor in the dollar weakness, you're still left with a lot of value in gold. So I also ask the question, wasup with gold shares?

DMONEY, you're spot on. We can blame the rand but in truth it has to run deeper, the Rand gold price is at records - gold miners are way off their highs.

From the article: "The investment bank said it rates Gold Fields and Harmony "overweight", with AngloGold Ashanti and DRDGOLD as "underweight"." Do I interpret this right? We should rather buy ANG and DRD? Or is it the other way round?

Thanks Simon. GFI especially looks very attractive, and even more so it we can see a close above R120.

I took a bit of a gamble and bought a warrant (GFISBD) when GFI was trading at +-R119.50. Looks like the positive mining sentiment rubbed off onto GFI as well.
