Pref Shares

I need strong annual income. I see pref shares show great DY's at the moment: SHFF - 13,76 SBPP - 10,78 INPP - 15,03.And tax free of course! How does the price of a pref share work - does it behave the same as an ordinary share. What are the dangers and disadvantages? If pref shares DY is a function of prime howcome most of them have a DY much higher than prime? Have looked at the Std Equities brochure but the above points do not seem to be covered. Comments appreciated.

it does nto behave as a normal share, except no share price gain .. an those DY's are historic, payout is based on prime which has been falling, so payouts will be lower an so will DY's ..
