Ramos is Absa's new boss - Exiting Transnet boss and former National Treasury director-general Maria Ramos will take over from Steve Booysen as Absa CEO.

Twill be interesting to see what she gets up to at Absa. I think her Transnet work has gone more into balance sheet hygiene than any operational or strategic remediation. Perhaps balance sheet art is what Absa has lacked?

Selling of non-core business and booking the profits. Before her term all proceeds from privatisation (selling non-core) have been transfaerred to state coffers. At one stage Transnet was the biggest contributor to state as special dividend but the debt remained with the company. Having said that I realise that on this forum it not transnet but ABSA which need to be argued. CAn a political activist, Natinal Treasurer, Transport leader make a succesfull banker? Is this good for ABSA
